4 Common Early Season AC Repairs

We’re still early in the summer season, and as things heat up outside you may be facing some AC problems. Don’t let any issues get out of hand. Instead give our team a call to schedule AC repair in Phoenixville, PA.

We’re here to help with all your AC needs big and small. Keep reading to learn more about some of the more common AC repairs we see early in the summer season and the signs of each one. If you notice any of these, it’s important to schedule service sooner rather than later.

Broken Capacitor

The capacitor is a small component located on the outdoor portion of your air conditioner. Although it is small and very easy to replace, the capacitor plays a significant role in how your AC operates to cool your home. In fact, it helps your air conditioner to get that little boost of power it needs to get started at the beginning of each cooling cycle.

Without the capacitor, your air conditioner cannot turn on to cool your home. If it seems like the air conditioner isn’t working the way it usually does, don’t panic just yet. It’s very likely that the capacitor is to blame. Our team can swap it out with a new capacitor and get your AC working again.

Refrigerant Leaks

Refrigerant leaks are common early in the summer season, although they can happen at any time. As temperatures heat up and your air conditioner has to work harder, refrigerant leaks may be more obvious. You may notice a lack of cool airflow or a hissing or bubbling sound that points to a refrigerant leak.

Duct Problems

We also receive a lot of calls about duct problems. Ductwork tends to expand and contract with temperature changes. Over the cooler fall and winter seasons, the material contracts back down with lower temperatures. But now that things are heating up, your ductwork is expanding again and may be breaking the seals that attach the joints together.

This can lead to a lack of airflow reaching your home. Our team can test your ductwork by pressurizing it to identify where air is leaking out. Then we can fix any holes to secure the system again. This will help to ensure that your home stays more comfortable while also boosting energy efficiency and saving money on your monthly energy costs.

Bad Blower Motor

The blower motor inside your air conditioner may be bad if you notice changes in airflow or find that your air conditioner is overheating. A bad blower motor can produce a burning smell or cause your air conditioner to shut down early during the cooling cycle.

Thanks to outside heat, your system is already hot during the summer months when temperatures are at their highest. Overheating is more likely and having a blower motor go bad is definitely a headache, but it is something that our team can easily fix so that your air conditioner can continue working great.
